一位大学四年级学生为没有遇到同龄的有绅士风度男生而感到沮丧，她放弃了为爱和人约会而改为和年长的男人约会，以换取礼物。

　　故事发生在第二次世界大战期间，一批来自英国的飞行员们被排遣到加拿大接受军事训练，训练的日子非常的辛苦枯燥，在此过程中，加拿大的姑娘们成为了唯一能够缓解疲劳的选择。然而，每个人都明白，这只是一段注定不会有结果的露水情缘而已，一旦训练结束，男孩们就将离开加拿大，和他们的爱人永远的分离。

　　In the Alpine village of Tolzbad in the 1800s, the townsfolk talk quietly and restrain their movements lest they incur avalanches. This atmosphere lends itself to repressed emotions - shown through the parallel stories of butler student Johann lusting after his mother (an old flame of the mysterious Count Knotkers) and Klara's attraction to her father (who lusts after his other daughter), leading to duels and suicidal plunges galore.
